Replaced my pads this morning on the DD for the first time. 87K miles!!
then I noticed the seal was leaking from the Cv joint.
Question : do you have to replace both driver and passenger sides? so people on the interwebs say that if you change one, you can cause the other side to leak?

I have literally never heard that. It doesn’t make much sense to me either, but I suppose I could be wrong.

Replacing one will not cause the other to leak. The thought is that you might as well replace both while pulling axles.

There is no logic in this idea.

Is this different than an axel? I believe it is axls that end up leaking.

Sorry, this was a reference to the axle/axel/axl jokes on Jalopnik a couple of days ago. I was hoping you had seen it. (If you have and you just played me, well done.)
